Swope’s daughter had barely finished her Halloween candy when she began this mantra: “Daddy, it’s so hard to wait for Christmas…” What began as a fun nod to the way-too-early holiday season turned into something deeper, a bittersweet reflection on missing friends and family during the holidays.
No AI was used in the project. Just 100% holiday spirit. Swope wrote the music + lyrics and teamed up with San Francisco-based vocalist/producer Alexis Harte to bring it all to life. We filmed the video in one improvisational day along the beaches of Santa Cruz with DP Michal Venera. To give it a dreamlike quality, the performance was filmed at double speed and slowed down in post. One shot even runs in reverse.
